Fried Green Tomatoes
We really appreciate the staff at Maxie's! Recently, we've dined in on 4/14/25 and 5/19/25 around 4pm and both times the wait staff was great! Being vegan there are a few items we like to order on the menu and our waiters both visits were excellent in offering modifications and suggestions. Although the vegan menu is not too big, we return for the excellent staff and atmosphere! Thank you!
12 Fresh Shucked Oysters
they were so good we had 3 dozen, also the peel and eat shrimp is delicious along with the crab corn chowder.
Fried Green Tomatoes
After we saw the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes", we were curious about them. As there were no Cajun/Creole restaurants where we lived, we searched online and found some. So, we went for it. Making them is easy but if you're not up for that process, Maxie's will be your go to spot to nibble on them. The bread coating is crunchy as all get out. And their remoulade sauce is fantastic and like us, you will most likely ask for a second dish of sauce to dip them in. It is making my mouth water just thinking about them. You have to give them a whirl when you go. And if you haven't tried Maxie's, better get a move on!
Miller Amish Pressure-Fried Chicken Box
That box of fried Amish chicken was the best. Got it for my wife's birthday and the whole family loved it.
Rockefeller Oysters 3
Very good food and service! My only confusion was we were sat upstairs with the understanding it was busy but no other guest was sat after us. So we were the only guest upstairs bedsides a party. Was asked did we want to sit at the bar if there was no tables no nothing just directed to go straight upstairs
Chicken Fried Chicken
The perfect combo with mashed potatoes, maple braised collards, & a Utica Club! My favorite chicken fried chicken by far ?
Pimento Cheese Snack Board
One of the best options to get your Maxie's experience started is the Pimento Cheese Snack Board. It is a great twist on the traditional cheese board, and as good as the Pimento Cheese ball is, they had me at Fried Bologna. Pair this with the Pork Confit Flatbread and you've got a delicious full meal. Although, adding a few $1 oysters during happy hour won't hurt either.
Shrimp & Grits
I've had Shrimp and Grits in a number of New Orlean's style restaurants in the past, but Maxie's is far and away the best, hand down. Lots of shrimp, that are large and you can tell they are fresh once you take a bite. And the grits are creamy and loaded with that Tasso we have all come to love. And the sauce, well as Emeril Lagasse coined "This is so good, you can eat it off the bumper of a car." And the portion is so big, I have it for lunch the next day. Try it, you will definitely not be disappointed, I guarantee.
Jambalaya "Me-Oh-My-A"
This dish is hard to pass up when we dine at Maxie's. The Cajun/Creole flavor profile is complex which is just what you expect and want n this dish. And, the sausage has a nice heat to it. It's a large portion and I can never finish it which is okay as it is even better the next day.
